Losing Bria

(This is the “working title”; it may change before the book is published.)

A veteran prayer warrior faces the most intense battle of her life when her granddaughter disappears.

Fourteen-year-old Bria has a gift for the stage, a heart full of hope, and a secret she thinks is love after a new friend introduces her to Jax, a charismatic man who promises auditions, glamor, and the future of her dreams. Bria sneaks out to a party and walks into his trap. Renamed Tami, branded with a tattoo, and cut off from everyone who loves her, she’s thrust into a world of lies where survival looks like obedience and shame sounds like her own voice.

Grief has already carved a hollow in Deborah’s life with the recent accidental death of her husband. When her granddaughter vanishes, Deborah does the only thing she knows to do: pray, persist, and refuse to let fear have the final word. With her daughter Niki (Bria’s mother)—an exhausted EMT who’s not sure prayer changes anything—she canvasses the city, posts flyers, and clings to reminders of past answered prayers to fuel her faith for the present.

Under Jax’s tightening control, Tami learns to “smile now, cry later” . . . to hide bruises under makeup and mask terror with a smile. Yet the embers of the girl she once was still flicker. A story her Granda told. A Bible verse she can’t forget. A kindness she risks for another victim. When Jax decides to sell her to a bigger predator, the clock begins to race.
